Maryino Manor is situated on the beach of Big (Bolshoi) Pond surrounded by romantic park. Manor is the former patrimony of counts Stroganovs and princes Galitzins: greatest military leaders and educated diplomats, good friends of Russia's imperial family and founders of more than 500 new towns in Siberia, generous sponsors and hospitable hosts.
During two centuries of its life manor was the Museum of Russian nobility (at the time of Soviet power), then the war began and Maryino became military hospital for German officers.
Years later there was situated Scientific Research Institute of mining-geological works – the staff of the Institute was testing drilling equipment at the basement floor of the palace and broke waterproofing of all the halls. After the war manor became the orphan asylum and later in the nineties here was situated after-work sanatorium of Tosno’s powder mill.
In 2008 Maryino became a private property: its new owner entrepreneur Galina Stepanova breathed new life into the manor and now a new history of Maryino creates.
